While this Labor Day weekend is expected to be busier than Memorial Day was early this year; more people are expected to stay closer to home this year over last. AAA is predicting around 13% fewer travelers traveling over 50 miles from their home this weekend over last year.

With an expected decline of 3% of those flying this Labor Day over last year, airfares are down for the weekend. Airfare rates are expected to rise after the Labor Day holiday due to the reduction of flights this fall. Some airlines will also be increasing or adding additional baggage fees soon which will also increase the cost of flying after this last summer holiday.
Empty hotel rooms have forced many hotels and resorts to offer not only low room rates, but some are also offering various package deals. Some of the packages include meals at restaurants. Others include some form of entertainment such as a show.
